Our Mentor Mom - Linda Wiegand - the pastor's wife, was also a part of our Steering Team.
What a crazy, fun, amazing, awesome group of women! I'm proud to call them my friends.
For our last meeting of the year, we had a big brunch where everyone brought their favorite foods. And then we did a clothing swap. We all decided to clean out our kids closets, bring all the outgrown clothes together, and let everyone take what they wanted. The amount of clothes we collected was astounding. No one was obligated to donate in order to take clothes - we have a few moms in our group where funds are tight - and they all took home 2-3 huge bags of clothes for their kids to last through the summer, into the fall and even the winter. I think everyone went away with at least a couple bags of clothes, and we hardly made a dent in the pile we collected.
The church has a few families in need, and the pastor is going to let them take what they need from the clothes, then the rest will be offered to the church members on Sunday, and if anything remains after that - they'll be donated to Goodwill and the Salvation Army.
