Over Memorial Day weekend, the New England region hosted their annual Triple Play regional races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. In addition to the races, the club also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Spec Racer Ford (the racecar Steve drives) at this event. There was a large showing of SRF cars and drivers - see them all below in the group picture!
Even though it was a regional race, because of the anniversary celebration, a few pro drivers (who started in SRFs) showed up, along with a bunch of national drivers. Steve finished 5th, 6th and 7th in the 3 races. Overall, he was extremely pleased. Only one regional driver beat him. The rest of the spots in front were taken by the 2 pros, and 4 national drivers. And they didn't all blow him away. He was staying with them, giving them a good race. So even though he didn't come home with a podium finish - he was happy!
Additionally, there were a lot of prizes and give-aways - free tires, shock re-builds, body work, car parts, hats, t-shirts, etc. Steve took home a $150 gift certificate for SRF parts and a 25% off coupon for fiberglass repair and a paint job. (Not surprisingly, the gift certificate was spent before we left the track!)
One garage filled with just SRFs! It was pretty cool to see so many lined up together.
A commemorative bottle of wine was made and given to all the SRF drivers. Pretty cool.
