Melissa's parents just spent a week out from Oregon visiting us. For the most part, we had Pacific Northwest weather - rainy, cloudy, overcast - the whole time they were here. The one break was on Saturday, when we luckily spent the day in Newport, RI. We hiked the Cliff Walk behind all the mansions and then toured the largest, The Breakers.
At the start of the cliff walk.
On The Breakers balcony overlooking the backyard and ocean view.
Grandpa - obviously finding something funny.
Snack time! After a 3/4 mile hike and having to walk quietly without touching anything for 45 minutes through the mansion - the kids needed some refueling and open spaces to run around.
Mom and Dad were going tell everyone this was their new east coast home they purchased. Housing prices are GREAT here in New England. =)
Hanging outside one day. Emily looking fashionable while "wrenching" on her bike.
Grandpa taught the kids how to hammer real nails into wood. They loved it - especially Zach.
This is Emily's handiwork. She took the letters puzzle and figured out which letters could be turned over and still fit into their spots (learning symmetry, I guess.) Only her crazy mind would spend time doing something like this!
