Cape Cod

Melissa's good friend from college, Kellie, is here visiting - so we decided to go spend the day exploring Cape Cod. Here's some pictures from our time on the beaches.

The first are my favorites in black and white.

This is a great "sisters" picture.

What a little man!

Izzy's First School Field Trip

Today Izzy's class had their first field trip to the Easton Children's Museum. It was a lot of fun, especially since Izzy's good friend Jessica got to ride there and back in our car with us.

Here are Izzy and Jessica at the face painting station.

This is what I imagine life will be like in about 10 years - the girls glued to the mirror doing their make-up! =)

There was a wood-working room with real wood, hammers, nails, and screws.

On the train.

Selling tickets to the movies.

Cooking in the restaurant.

One of the three ball mazes - this one you could build your own course.

The large maze that wound through the ceilings and around the entire room.

After an hour of playing, it was snacktime. We had great weather for eating outside.

One of my friends, Kerri. She let her son, Mason, paint her face!

Zach's B-Ball Skills

We've all seen how well Zach can throw a ball - it's pretty good for a 2 year-old. Now, he's moved on to mastering basketball. Here's some video of him shooting and dribbling. I know I'm pretty biased being his mom, but his hand-eye coordination and skills seem pretty darn good for only being 2!

Here he's shooting baskets - although you'll notice he's using a football instead of a basketball (I don't know why.) I think that actually makes it harder, but he still manages to make most of his shots!

Here he is dribbling the ball!

German Bakers

I have a friend here and we've decided we had the same Grandma - since we both grew up eating their homemade pfeffernussen and zwiebach. All the reminiscing about those german foods got me craving them, so I had my parents dig out my Grandma Wiens' old recipes so I could make some myself. And since there's nothing better then passing down family traditions, the kids got to participate in the baking!

Here they are helping me knead and roll the dough for the pfeffernussen (pepper nuts) last weekend. It's a spicy bite-size cookie that when made traditionally is hard as a rock and you just have to suck on it til it becomes soft enough to chew. (Mine aren't that hard - I didn't want anyone cracking a tooth!) The kids LOVE them and they've become a favorite snack and after meal treat.

This weekend, we tried making the zwiebach - a German Mennonite bread. It's made with two balls of dough stacked on top of each other, then my Grandma always used to poke her finger down the middle to make them stick. Izzy got that job today!

Baking zwiebach!

The first taste! Izzy likes them!

Zach trying his.

Here's a few other random pictures I'll throw out there. Emily decided to "line up" the Buzz toys from her Georgia Tech mobile in the crib after her nap one day.

Their favorite activity - bath time!
